What is Stomach Problems?

Stomach problems refer to a range of digestive issues affecting the stomach and intestines. These may include indigestion, acid reflux, gastritis, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, ulcers, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Such conditions can arise from poor dietary habits, infections, stress, or underlying medical conditions. Other contributing factors include food intolerances (such as lactose or gluten intolerance), bacterial or viral infections, overuse of medications like NSAIDs, and chronic conditions like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Causes of Stomach Problems:

  • Genetic Factors – Family history of hypertension or hypotension increases the risk.
  • Food Intolerances & Allergies – Conditions like lactose or gluten intolerance can trigger digestive discomfort.
  • Infections – Bacterial (H. pylori), viral, or parasitic infections can lead to gastritis, diarrhea, and stomach pain.
  • Acid Reflux & GERD – Stomach acid flowing back into the esophagus causes heartburn and irritation.
  • Dehydration & Low Fiber Intake – Lack of water and fiber in the diet can cause constipation and digestive issues.
  • Stress & Anxiety – Psychological stress can disrupt gut health and contribute to bloating, cramps, and digestive irregularities.

Symptoms of Stomach Problems:

  • Abdominal Pain & Cramps – Discomfort or sharp pain in the stomach area.
  • Heartburn & Acid Reflux – Burning sensation in the chest due to stomach acid backing up into the esophagus.
  • Nausea & Vomiting – Feeling sick to the stomach, sometimes leading to vomiting.
  • Unexplained Weight Loss – Sudden weight reduction without any diet or exercise changes.
  • Blood in Stool or Vomit – A sign of ulcers, infections, or gastrointestinal bleeding.
  • Mucus in Stool – Possible sign of infections or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
